From April 18 to 20, the opening ceremony of the 15th Beijing International Film Festival Animation and Film Unit was held in Beijing. The event was jointly sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, Beijing Municipal Film Bureau and the Daxing District Committee and District Government of Beijing, and hosted by the Beijing Film and Television Animation Association. The venue held many film, animation, and AI-related activities, attracting many leaders, experts and cultural industry representatives to gather together to discuss the new future of AI technology in the field of film art.

At the professional venue event on the morning of April 20, the unveiling ceremony of the AI Future Film Research Institute marked a new milestone in the research and practice of the cross-field of “AI + Film and Television”. The signing of the AI Image Standard Laboratory marks that China is moving from “following” to “running side by side” and even “leading” in the field of AI film and television technology research, contributing “Chinese power” to the development of global AI imaging. The signing of the Smart Toy R&D Center will also promote the new model of collaborative industry implementation between Beijing and Guangdong, promote the healthy development of the industrial chain of IP derivatives, and redefine the new equation of toys with technology. In the high-end dialogue session of the opening ceremony, experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on the topic of “Is AI a tool or a creator-reconstructing the boundaries of film art”, highlighting the multiple roles of AI technology in future film creation.
As one of the highlights of this year’s animation and film unit, the release of 10 theater AI animated films and 20 AI animated shorts aims to achieve a new high of 10 billion box office and domestic and international film festival awards. This event not only showcases the application results of AI technology in the film field, but also builds a platform for cultural exchange and cooperation, injecting new energy into promoting the reconstruction of the boundaries of film art.
